Persecuted Church

    We Keep Going

Sharing Jesus in a Resistant Land

Warning: The following story contains descriptions of violence that may be unsuitable for some readers.

Here was where a Christian girl, a student, was stoned to death and her body burned to ashes at the school. She was accused of blaspheming the prophet of Islam. If it is Christianity that you're bringing, if you're bringing the Gospel, you are not welcome here. Islam came into my country in West Africa over 200 years ago, and this is where it started. There is a pride in saying this is the root of Islam. So to come and bring anything that would uproot Islam out of this place is really, really resisted by the people and the systems that are in place. There is opposition, persecution, sometimes silently and sometimes violently. When you go into a place like this, you have to respect what they do and honor the tradition in the place without having to compromise your stand as a child of God.

In 1 Corinthians 9, the Apostle Paul said, "I have become all things to all people." So if I have to wear a kaftan and wear a turban to cover my head, so their hearts are open to you and they are ready to really give you the cooperation and listen to what you are saying, I will do it. We come to places like this to share with them the love of Jesus. So many times we just cook food. We come here and while we are handing out the food, we tell them that we are Christians, and what we're doing is sharing the love of Jesus.

Those who are disciples from the northern parts of my country move across sub-Saharan Africa and they're able to take the Gospel with them. We take micro SD cards and put in them the audio Bible, the Jesus Flame discipleship materials all recorded because our audience are mostly illiterate. It is what they see and what they hear. Jesus Films are very interesting because it's so amazing that when you go put your projector on, we have the opportunity to tell others that this is God's plan of salvation. God is giving us victory because every day we see people come to receive Jesus as their Lord and personal Savior.

We have been able to bring impact in so many villages. This year we have been to almost 2,000 villages. This work is not going to stop. There's nowhere else I'd rather be than here doing exactly what God has asked me to do, and I'm never going to stop until we hear the trumpet sound and we see Jesus in the clouds and we join him and return to heaven. That is when this will ever stop. But if not, we keep going.
